We worked together for 2 years. Dated/lived together for 4 years. And she was my best friend this past year. The person I saw more than any of my other friends. Nearly every weekend, and some "school" nights.
I always thought she'd be one of my long-term friends, like my other 20+ year friends.
When we were "breaking up", if you could call it that. I told her I'd always be her friend. Something I'd never allowed past lovers. She was that special to me.
I never thought I'd outlive her. Funny how mortality was one of our relationship "issues". She was afraid to commit long-term with me because she didn't want to be left alone when I died.
